doing my research for mood boards and came across this website, amazing for letting me know all different events of the 80's.

Print fair!

I then decided while I was there I should take advantage of it and produce something to do with my project, as I said it was soo busy!! So I just decided to do something quick and simple based on bowie, so I went on Pinterest and got a picture of him I had a pinned of him as 

ziggy stardust! This was the outcome..

I've kept my etching and I'm going to do some more prints with it at college, hopefully try and use two colours as it should be red and blue. Wish I had of taken the tracings I have of what I've drawn so far on my mood boards as I think these would look fab in prints! But now I know I can produce them at college. Overall had a great day at the print fair and so glad I went, made me feel more confident about doing etchings and screen prints as the woman was impressed by my work. I know now id like to overlap the same print in different colours on top of my drawings as this would fit in with my collage artists I've chosen. 

Print fair

You could either trace a picture of a sculpture from the gallery or do your own design. To get used to it at first I did a tracing of a sculpture I had seen. And then another! But with it being so busy I only had time to print one.

Didn't get chance to take photos of the process of printing as it was quite busy! And only 3 people showing how the prints were done.. I just got the chance to do some etching .. I prefered using the see through plastic than the metal we use at college it was quicker and more simple but I thought the outcome was just as nice! It's made me want to do more etching at college as I haven't really experimented much with printing and I really enjoyed it. 

Material girl..

I couldn't help but think madonna when I looked at this!! Although it's a Chinese fan the material used and the craziness of it all reminded me of her style and especially the lace look wire reminded me of her gloves and something she would wear in her hair, it's made me think about working with new materials I'm not that familiar with and see what I can come up with. Even if it's just something small! 

Hepworth gallery

Oil painting of Pontefract castle , the detail was beautiful. Reminded me how much I love working with oils and what you can produce when you take time with your work. This painting took a full year to do! it's defiantley paid off though, everytime I looked I noticed something new. It has made me want to manage my time the best way I can so that I can produce something amazing in the few weeks I have.. Obviously I don't have a year haha! 

Hepworth gallery

Saw a lot of this certain artists work, he specialises in screen prints I love his colours I think they look really retro. 

There's an astranout in this peice which reminded me of the photo of bowie dressed as one so I would like to take the idea of maybe doing bowie in screen prints along with similar bold colours! 

Obviously one of bowies more iconic looks which will be easy to recognise when others look at my work! 

Hepworth gallery wakefield

I decided to go to the Hepworth this weekend as there's been a print fair on Saturday and Sunday, so I've been all morning looking at the gallery saw some collage artists for Insporation and did some etching prints in the printing room! Had a really lovely day and enjoyed the printing process defiantley will be adding it to my work more throughout this project. 

Madonna mood board

Madonna mood board I started Thursday in process added a lot more to it now and will post pics of it when finished. 

I used watercolour and pencil to work into it and create a life like sketch of madonna in her 80s prime. Also learnt a lot doing this board as I've decided to add songs she brought out in the 80s. A lot more than I thought! Took a while to add them all. Proud of it so far..

iconic lyrics

These are some of bowies lyrics which are really famous, I have ideas of adding them to my work so will be producing a board based purely around lyrics and mixing them with art and colours of what mood each song makes you feel. I'm thinking these are a must when producing my final peice. 

Music research!!

I have been listening to my dad's vinyls bowie of course and really listening to his lyrics especially the songs that came out in the 80's. These songs were so populuar and still are today he has a major fan base so I wanted to listen and see what he sings about. Some really famous lyrics which I'm defiantley going to be adding to my work. 

Prince

Haven't done much research as of yet on prince as I've mainly focused on my proposal and artists as it's only the third week, but can't wait to find out more about this man and put him into my work. Love his fashion and music!! He is my third main icon I've chosen to look at... 

Already can see the resemblance of bowie fitting in with one of my artists .. Eugenia loli. Love this background and I would love to do more of it in my work throughout the project!!

Madonna

Madonna is my second icon that I am looking at in this project, I have taken into account her fashion from the 80's the music and why she was such an inspiration for people then and still is today. 

David bowie

David bowie is my main icon that I am focusing on although I'm looking at three others as well as him I'm hoping to develop my project on him so my final peices will be based around him, as he is my favourite ever icon! 

I love everything about bowie and think he is truly inspiring. Also my artists I have chosen are random and crazy and I would love to mix this with bowie and how he has changed throughout time gone from ziggy stardust to Aladdin sane etc.. Just so many wonderful looks and songs that will mix well with my artists and ideas. 

Diego max research

Information about diego max I found on a website based on him ( link in other post ) really inspiring and great that his work is mixed with anatomy , I find this so interesting and can't wait to see how this will work with my icons!! 

Techniques to think about for FMP

Diego max artist research sheet completed

My diego max artist sheet finally done today after 5 hours!! Proud of the outcome can't wait to add his work into mine as the project develops more.. 

I used pictures from the internet to stick on which worked well with my drawings I used watercolour then worked into them with pencil to produce the flowers and leafs then simple biro for the twig effect like diegos work. I used acrylic paint for a more bold look so his name stood out because in his work he uses pastel like colours then has the odd black bold peices which really contrast well. Love this artist and his creativity as I've recently learned that his work is a mix of art and anatomy as he is inspired by the medical background of his family.

I used water colours and worked in with pencil for the main drawings and the background is acrylic paint, which contrasts well. Love the bright bold colours Loli uses and think they will work well with my retro icon theme throughout this project!

FMP ideas

For this project I have been researching into the theme iconic .. As I have started looking I have found people like Elvis bob Marley David bowie lady gaga etc...

I then decided to look more into people such as bowie and madonna because I love everything about their fashion music and the era '1980's' . 

At the start iconic was my theme alongside collages. My plan was to do 5 major collages of iconic people places and things including new yorks buildings Eiffel Tower and major brands like Chanel Gucci coco cola. But as I developed research more and more I have fallen into a different catergory as I found the iconic people I was most intrested in all have the same theme 1980s and I love their style. So I have decided to change it to 1980s icons, so I can look more into the music the make up the fashion and overall the things in the 1980s. 

I think this is the best idea because I have taken time to look up different things and it has drawn me to what I'm really intrested in which is a massive help when doing a project you get to choose yourself. I am exited about the outcome and getting started!!
