Madonna also wears a lot of bangles, looking at her looks from the 80s! Her poodle like hair, fingerless gloves, bold colours and lots of bangles are her most iconic and what people think of when they think of madonna back then. 

So I've added little gems I bought just to give a bead look to the drawing I did of her hand , not forgetting the bright nail varnish.

After a lot of research on madonna and her iconic outfits, I figured the lace white tutu she wears in like a virgin video. Is probably one of the most well known, she caused a stir in the 80s over her performance on stage performing ''like a virgin'' and the outfit will always be remembered for good or bad reasons. 

Here I've just done a little remake of the dress using white lace in my sketchbook.

After developing research on madonna I was mistaken thinking she just had lace fingerless gloves, she also wears fishnet so I had a go at making another glove out of fishnet material. I prefer the lace one as the material positioned better, the fishnet is from tights I purchased and took a while to stretch to the shape of the hand I drew.

The same picture I have on my original madonna visual this time in basic felt tip pens as I didn't want it to stand out I wanted people to look at the crucifix I've added. As madonna is known for large cross statement necklaces with her looks from the 80s!

Madonna research pages re creating her iconic fingerless gloves.

I used black lace, I'm fine art and don't really use materials much in my work but after seeing the material fan in the Hepworth gallery wakefield.. I wanted to try being abit more creative and not just draw.

Over Easter 4 weeks into the project I started my sketchbook work, I wanted to make sure I covered everything from 80s food and fashion big brands to my icons and there lifestyles in the 80s. 

 

So I got photos from the internet of events such as miners strike and first ozone layer discovered, films out in the 80s, fashion , new crazes like the Rubik's cube and cabbage patch dolls. To my icons and them performing and there iconic outfits they wore in the 80s!! 

I did a few drawings mostly added materials, but it turns out it had ALOT of writing so I started a smaller sketchbook with black paper and did some drawings of them, which I've paper clipped into my sketchbook.. Which is nearly complete now 

This is another drawing on my bowie visual .. From this to my sketchbook one I'm proud at how much I've come on in my drawings

I love my drawings better in my sketchbook because it's black paper it's my favourite technique which I've barely used up until FMP. Coloured pencils on black paper gives the best outcome.

This is a close up of my david bowie visual, the sketch I've done of him is from the scary monsters album cover. Probably my favourite picture of bowie and is one of his best albums from the 80s cover. The silver material I used reminds me so much of his outfit in this particular picture so I've added more of it, in my sketchbook. 

I used paint biro and pencils to do this drawing and love it but I prefer the same sketch I did but with coloured pencils on black paper in my sketchbook, It stands out more and is bold.

This was the second sheet I did in the project, I started it very early and safe to say a lot has changed with my ideas.

I like the outcome and feel like I've progressed with what I did on it

I wrote 'hot tramp I love you so' which is bowies lyrics , same as my madonna sheet I wrote her song titles on her visual because I had an idea at the start of the project to add lyrics into my drawings cause the lyrics and songs are ICONIC. 

 

But that changed as I stared researching my chosen artists as they are fun and unique crazy drawings, and I have added my icons into that in my sketchbook and prefer that approach than the lyrics

Madonna visual completed, happy with the outcome although I did this early on in the project ( it was supposed to be a mood board but it's more like a visual) and I can see from this to the work I'm currently doing how much my sketching with pencils has improved. 

I also did this before I started sketchbook work so I've added the drawings into my sketchbook but with different medias. 

The madonna I've drawn with the sunglasses a picture I found from the internet of her.. I've re created over and over in my work because I like it a lot.
